Homer Women of Action is a group with a common interest in organizing, supporting, collaborating and/or affiliating with others to empower local community action for the good.
We welcome all women as they are, regardless of color, race, sexual orientation and gender identities. We honor each voice with respect, honesty and kindness. We are committed to working towards collective goals.
HWOA is a group of committed women from Homer and the surrounding area who are dedicated to fostering informed dialogue, promoting civic engagement, and addressing extremism at the local, state, and national levels. We are committed to upholding democratic values, encouraging respectful discourse, and working collaboratively to ensure a vibrant and inclusive community for all.
HWOA meets twice monthly to discuss relevant topics, progress in issues we have taken an interest in, calls to action, rallying our community, and organizing demonstrations. Additionally, we regularly have speakers from across the state who share with us their campaigns, projects, and interests. We welcome our members to bring new issues and ideas for consideration and discussion.
HWOA affiliates, collaborates, partners, and supports other groups or organizations in Homer, our surrounding communities, and nationally on issues and projects that align with our mission.
We know the only way to sustain our group and our mission is to develop a connected, loving, and supportive community. Many of us recognize each other, but have not had the opportunity to get together in a relaxed and social place. So we regularly put together Happy Hours!! to celebrate each other and all we have accomplished, and to just have fun!!
HWOA has meetings on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday @ 5:30 pm at Kachemak Bay College (KBC). Zoom available.
Thank you for making a difference!
We look forward to meeting you soon!
